Excellent range of products, friendly knowledgeable staff who are very willing to help. Good balance between leisure/commuters and full on MTB. All the staff are enthuiastic MTBers riding at Leith hill and other local areas. If there is something you need they will do their best to find it for you?

Large range of bikes, not always very organised, staff are not overly knowledgeable but do try and be helpful. Good for getting stuff that you want to look and and try on but already know about.
By Christophe
Good range, convenient locations and opening hours. let down by using brainless monkey as salesperson. OK to use if you know what you need, and don't require h help of a mechanic.

Evans-The Cut, Waterloo - Big, busy and open late (check website for times). I've bought odds and sods from them and used them for minor servicing and wheel builds with no complaints. The staff are helpful and seem to know what they're talking about. They've got a huge range of components and clothing, even holding a decent range of women's specific stuff for those of us in skirts that dare ride bikes. |

Very ordinary LBS, catering for the low end of the market these days, however the staff are fairly helpful and friendly, usefull for the odd emergency part?

Never found them very good, not very helpful or knowledgeable and don't carry much variation stock. Mainly seems to be aimed at commuters, even though they used to be the uk importer for cove?
By Peter
Position themselves as upper market end specialists both trail and tarmac but they're only servicing commuters like everywhere else. Staff are nice enough to talk to but it isn't backed up by service. The workshop guys think they're kings but they're really clowns - negligent ones at that. Pace dealers along with Marin and other stuff. You're better leaving your bike out in the rain than taking it there. |

Very similar to OYB, emergency spares only?
By Christophe
Poor range, bad service and expensive prices.

Action Bikes, Victoria - Less useful than your average Halfords interms of stock and staff awareness of the products they sell. Enough said. |

Roadie and Courier shop, that do MTB, they stock most Shimano products and are good for clothes helmets and footwear, helpful staff
By Christophe
Good range on accessories and clothing. Very good range on road bikes and stuff. The only shop where all the staff seems to know what they are talking about. Recommended. Down point: opening hours far from being convenient. |

Top Banana (Woodford)
7b Johnston Road
Woodford Green
Essex IG8 0XA
Tel: 020 8505 3375 |
Small shop, high end bikes limited parts and snobbish/unfriendly staff. Maybe I was just there on a bad day but it was enough for me not to bother going back. That said they do a lot around the area with organised rides and currently seem to want to be meeja whores with recent articles in mbuk and mbr?

Cycle Care (High Wycombe)

Cycle Care is a small outfit located on the outskirts of Wycombe. Stockists of Marin, Pace and Orange. I think it's fair to say that with the demise of Mountain High in Rickmansworth that they're the only decent bike shop in the area. The staff are helpful and if you're using them for servicing the workshop is competent. Their only downsides are that like many smaller outfits they don't/can't carry a huge range of stock and the workshop does get very busy so you usually need to book well in advance.

Cycling Reports
16/08/2010 - SITS Solo Experiences ... full report 24 hours of riding around on a muddy track in the midlands... Sounds like fun, so I signed up to race this thing on a whim and at short notice. I'm OK at long rides, you know 8-10 hours in the saddle, how different can 24 hours be? Well, I knew enough to know that running the run wasn
14/12/2011 - Burbage Trail Quest ... full report The sun was shining, the wind was blowing (always from the wrong direction) the ground had developed tractor beam tendencies and I'd packed the wrong legs... To add insult to injury Nicci and I lost our top position and came second out of a field of about two! We wasted half an hour
02/11/2011 - North Downs - First Winter Ride ... full report Up in the dark. Miserable weather. Chuck kit in car, strap bike on top. Drive to Wotton (where?) for 10:30. Mike phones, sounds like death, can't make it but says we should show Rob around on the Nicolai. Victoria (wisely?) stays in bed. Toby's under the weather. Nicky texts, "Fine weather for ducks
02/09/2011 - I'm fitter than Barrie Clarke! ... full report Cristalp, it?s Saturday morning in Verbier. My nightmare has come true and we go to register. Ridiculously fit-looking people everywhere and I?m feeling very out of place. Raggy and I are desperately trying to convince each other everything will be OK when Raggy suddenly breaks off and says

17/08/2011 - Nicky reports from the RUSS Ride for a Flight day ... full report It was a fantastic weekend! A few of us turned up early on Saturday for the Evans ride which was blessed with sunny skies and dry trails, before getting ready for Ride for a flight with a few beers and a BBQ laid on by Trailbreak. We woosed out of camping and headed home whilst the hardier types s
